The East Texas Horse Show Association was founded in 1962 with the specific purpose of promoting fellowship and friendship among amateur horse people in East Texas. It's goal is to keep alive the tradition of the Texas horseman and to encourage fair play, set definite rules for contests, and to promote goodwill and sportsmanship.

The Halter & Pleasure events is ready to go even though it rained, at Cherokee County Livestock & Expo in Jacksonville May 3.

Contestant Age Groups are:
 

Speed           Pleasure
6 UNDER       9&under
7-9                   10-12
10-12               13-17
13-17               18-39
18-39              40&over 40&over

Roping event availability, check in advance.

Contestants must ride in at least _4_out of _5_ shows to qualify for year end awards. Pleasure contests must compete in at least three performance events (can include one halter event) in every show they compete for points to count for year end awards. Awards are given for high point and reserve, male and female, overall year end awards in each age group and top six in any event.
